Let's talk about the U.S. election!

It's time to talk!

Where is the U.S. heading? The results of the U.S. elections will be important not only for America, but for democracy in general. That's why we'd like to give YOU the chance to discuss the elections.

We will pair you with another user, so you can speak about the election and democracy in general. It's a great opportunity to improve your English and to foster a culture of respectful discourse.

Your English doesn't have to be perfect. We provide useful phrases and background information on the election so you can prepare.

Participation is completely free and hosted together with our colleagues at the ZEIT Verlagsgruppe.

Just answer seven questions now, and you'll be matched with another participant on 24 October. Then set up a date of your choice with your partner between 25 October and 5 November. We very much hope you'll take part!

How it works:

1. Answer questions

Answer seven questions about the U.S. election. There is no right or wrong.

2. Get matched with your partner

We'll find you a partner whose political opinions differ from your own, but who would like to have a constructive discussion. If you both agree to meet, you can do so. As a free service, we provide you with a vocabulary list and useful phrases.

3. Have a conversation

You and your partner arrange a time to meet between 25 October and 5 November, on a day of your choice. You can meet via video call, in person or by phone - it's up to you. Length: Around 30-60 minutes.
